Well, we finally made it to Hong Kong! It was a pretty good flight actually. We slept for about half of the flight from LAX to ICN (Seoul) and were feeling pretty good.
The Korean Air flight that we were on was really nice! Each seat had it's own entertainment console which let us watch about 20 different movies and play games. The flight attendants were super-attentive and were always making sure that we had plenty of food and water. Of course, the flight was only about 40% full which probably helped. Even the food was tasty.
We landed in Seoul and had a 2-hour layover and were very impressed at how orderly everything was. They even provided reading glasses at the station where you fill out the health survey.
We spent our layover in the KAL Lounge where were "dined" on dumplings, congee, salad, deli meats, fruit, capuccinos, beer, wine, liquor, strange local refreshments, pastries, fruit and other snacks, all before 7am. Ok, we didn't really eat ALL that but were tempted :)
The second leg from ICN to Hong Kong was quick - about 3.5 hours. We landed, collected our luggage, and met Harold (Bernard's brother-in-law) right outside of Customs. From there it was a short 20-minute car ride to Bernard's sister's apartment. When we arrived, we spent the rest of the day catching up, exploring the campus where they live, and fighting jet lag.
We were able to stay awake until around 9 o'clock, then crashed pretty heavily. It was by far the best sleep we've ever had!
