Hello, Beer!
Today we took a bike tour through Yangshou. Along the way we stopped and took a bamboo raft trip down the Li River. This blew the other boat trip away! It was very peaceful and we had perfect weather. Along the way we went over a few (very small) waterfalls, which was pretty cool. It's amazing they can keep the raft from tipping over! There were also several floating vendors, trying to sell us cold beer (hence the title of this post).
The river guide even let B steer the raft for a bit.
The entire trip down the river took about 1.5 hours and were immediately swarmed by vendors when we got out of the rafts.
After we "escaped" we went to look for some lunch. We ate at a local food "restaurant" and sat outside. The food was, once again, amazing. After lunch, we went on a tour of the "wet cave".
It was beautiful! Toward the end of the tour, we all took off our shoes and waded in the clear water - very refreshing.
After leaving the cave, we got back on the bikes and took the scenic route back to town. We showered up, went to dinner, then to an outdoor show, which was set on the riverbank. The effects were very cool, though the story was a bit fuzzy - especially for the non-Mandarin speaking crowd! By the time the show was over, it was late, so we did a little souvenir shopping and headed back to the hotel. More to come...
