Day Two in Chengdu

Sanxingdui mask

Our first stop today was the Sanxingdui Museum. It is a museum that contained artifacts from a tribe in China that lived in the Sichuan province area about 3- to 4000 years ago. The museum was very detailed and one of the best presentations we have seen yet.

After leaving the museum, we stopped at a local restaurant for some lunch. Before ordering, we picked out a fresh chicken to be slaughtered for our dining pleasure. This was our lunch about 15 minutes later

We ordered about 6 different dishes, all of which which were, once again, delicious and very cheap!
The next stop was the Panda reserve. The grounds are fairly large and well kept. Approximately 16 baby pandas were successfully bred last year. They are about a year old now and they were all napping when we saw them. We did, however, happen to catch a few adult Giant pandas, including one enjoying some fresh bamboo.

By the time we left the reserve, most of the area exhibits were closed, so we called it a day. We got back to the hotel around 7 and opted for a dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was still very good, but nothing like the local Sichuan cuisine!
