Day 5 - Park rangers are not weather forecasters

So, we went to sleep around 9 and it started to rain around 11p. and rain. and rain. and we woke up to more rain. Even better, the wind was howling too! Actually, though, we both slept pretty well. The tent kept us dry but we were definitely dreading breaking camp in the rain.

I figured it wouldn't be worth waking up early to check the surf. Turns out it was a bad call on my part (I know, I know, Mitch!)
We rushed and packed up the campsite in the rain in about 10 minutes and hit the road. As we were driving away, we looked back and the waves were looking pretty good. Not glassy but you could see distinct lines coming in and they were about shoulder-head high. Arrrrrrgh! (sorry no pics)

We drove up to Reedsport on US1 and then turned off onto Hwy 38 to get to I-5 and get to Portland faster. Hwy 38 turned out to be a really beautiful drive.

We hadn't eaten breakfast really so we were pretty famished by the time we reached Eugene, OR. There was an Outback right off the highway so we grabbed some lunch there and got back on the road to Portland.
The rest of the drive was pretty uneventful and we made it to Portland at 1:58p (2 minutes ahead of the GPS estimate!).
We checked into a fancy Courtyard and took showers, dried our gear/clothes and then hit the town to find a battery charger for Bernard (dumbass forgot it for his camera!) and grab some dinner.
We found the famous Huber's - the oldest restaurant in Portland (1879!) http://www.hubers.com/welcome3.html A bit of a tourist trap, we know, but the food was amazing!! Highly recommended is the - Cioppino (excellent) and the beer bread is quite possibly the best bread we've ever tasted.
That's it for tonight - Gossip Girl comes on in 5 minutes and we have an early day of Portland sightseeing tomorrow
xoxo,
A&B ;-)

Jake's Famous Crawfish is a great place to eat in Portland if you want to drop some cash on a nice meal.

B - do you want to add another blog so you can tell all the ladies about Gossip Girl?

I refuse to believe you are watching that.
