We are sitting at LAX Gate 103 waiting to board China Air to Taipei - 13 hours nonstop :) Our ride up was crazy fast - 1.5 hours! No traffic on the 405 = a miracle. We returned our rental car and got on the shuttle to the airport. The driver was very friendly and super helpful .. and looked a lot like Denzel [preparing for his next movie role, perhaps? ;)]. Bernard did have to remind him a few times to get his board bag though. Good thing it's always first thing on his mind (Bernard says, "Annemarie is always the first thing on my mind") ;)
Checking in and security were pretty quick, although China Air messed up our "no checking bags" strategy when they placed a 7 kg weight rule for carry-on bags. Boooo. So we are traveling lighter than usual, just hoping all of our belongings make it to Taipei. Fingers crossed. On the upside, they only charged $100 for the board bag, which is less than we expected, and no charge for the rest!
Our trip will take us to Taipei for 3 days, down to Taitung for 4 days, on to Hengchun for another 4 days, then back up to Taipei for the remainder of our trip. There will be surfing (hopefully), hiking, biking, various water sports and lots and lots of FOOD! So stay tuned!!
