The flight home went pretty fast and we both slept for probably 4 or 5 hours of the 13-hour flight. We landed around 9pm and went through all of the usual B.S. When we got to customs the system was down (shocking) so it took a bit longer than expected. We didn't have to wait too long for our bags and the Avis shuttle was at the curb when we came out. We grabbed our rental car and headed home.
We were both pretty wide awake since we slept on the flight and our bodies thought it was 2pm. Good thing, since the drive home took forever. The 405 was closed for several miles and we followed a detour that took us about 40 minutes or so out of our way. Luckily when we finally got back to the freeway, it was smooth sailing all the way home. When we got to about Carlsbad, my phone started ringing and it turned out it was the China Airlines baggage counter. Apparently, we took the wrong bag from off the conveyor belt. UGGGG. We thought we had double checked all of the tags, but when we got home we saw that one of them did indeed belong to someone else. So, the good sport that he is, Bernard drove up this morning to make the exchange.
Our trip went WAY too fast, but it is good to be home. We slept a full 6 hours last night in our own bed :) I have no idea what to expect for the rest of the day and tomorrow though. As for today, we are both going to the gym for about 5 hours .. lol.
