Second time's a charm!

This morning we got up, checked at of our hotel by 8am and headed to the Kawarau Bridge. We skipped breakfast on account of the fact that AM was about to jump 140 feet off a bridge ;-) Due to AM's excitement, we left a little earlier than we needed to, so we had to drive around for about 30 mins to kill some time. The drive was actually pretty cool though, as the roads were very winding and narrow. When it was time, we headed back to the bridge and checked in.

As it turns out, AM was the first jump of the day! We thought it was pretty cool at first, but soon found out that it's not always a good thing. She requested to be dunked into the river beneath, but because the cords are still cold, it doesn't always work out that way. The jump ended up being about 2 meters short of the river :-(  After inquiring about a second jump, however, we were told we would only be charged NZ$60. Bring it on! The second jump was MUCH better. AM was dunked up to her waist and it was exhilarating!

Smile for the camera!

Whoohoo!

Finally get dunked the 2nd time!
To quote Bernard, "Effin Awesome!"
The only casualty was a right contact lens, but luckily AM had plenty of extras in the car.

Check out the video compilation of Bernard's and AM's jumps here

After the jump was over, it was time to head to the airport. Sadly our NZ adventure was over :-(  Time to head back to Oz for the final leg of our trip.

Our flight landed in Brisbane at 5:30pm and we picked up our rental car and drove to our hotel. We stayed at The Marque in downtown Brisbane, which was a pretty cool area (and a pretty nice hotel as well). There were tons of places to eat nearby and we decided on some Korean food. The place we found was tucked away and the majority of diners were Korean, so we figured it had to be good. Bonus: it was one of our cheapest meals.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel, as we were both exhausted from our full day.

Tomorrow we start our journey south to Sydney. We plan to hit all the major surf spots along the way. Hopefully we'll get lucky and there will be some surf and some good weather! So far we've only seen rain in Brisbane :-(

First stop: Surfer's Paradise, Byron Bay!
