Today we got up early, showered, packed up and went out for breakfast. Our debriefing with Don, from the charter company, was scheduled for 9am and our flight to Brisbane was at 1:55pm. Waiting around was absolute torture because it was insanely hot and humid. There was no air conditioned place to wait and we overstayed our welcome in the two stores that did have it.
Our debriefing took less than an hour and we chatted with Don for awhile after we finished. Finally, at 12:15pm our taxi came to take us to the airport. As we mentioned before, Proserpine airport is TINY and barely air conditioned. Our flight was delayed about 30 minutes and we finally boarded around 2:30pm.
We were curious to see what Brisbane would be like, since the floods have been all over the news lately. As predicted, when we landed it was raining and everything was closed. Luckily, the Marriott was still up and running (and REALLY nice). When we checked in, they upgraded us to a nice room overlooking the river. Normally, the view would have been beautiful, but because of the floods most of what we saw were large objects, runaway boats and various debris floating down the river. It was really sad to see. The city looks like it's normally really beautiful. Hopefully we'll get to see more of it when we return from NZ.

After relaxing for a bit, we showered and headed to the dining room for dinner, followed by drinks and dessert in the Executive Lounge (compliments of all Bernard's work travel). We sat and chatted for a bit with a table of fellow IT consultants, who happened to be from the U.S., and were sitting next to us.
Around 10pm, we decided to call it a night as we had to be up at 5am for our next flight. Next stop, New Zealand!
