We left Brisbane on an 8:30 flight and arrived at Christchurch around 4pm.

What a shock! After being in 90+ degrees and humid weather, we were a little under dressed in our shorts and t-shirts for the 58, cool and rainy weather in Christchurch.
Somehow we managed to fight through the frigid cold and hail a taxi to take us to Hotel So, renamed to All Seasons Hotel after we booked it. It was a funky little boutique hotel. We were upgraded to the penthouse suite on the sixth floor. All 120 square feet of it :-)

After settling into our room, we walked around the city center and did a little shopping. We mailed home some things that we had packed that we weren't using to lighten our load. While walking around, we passed by an Indian restaurant and decided to grab a bite to eat. It seemed pretty authentic and the food was good.

After dinner, we wanted to walk around some more but all the stores were closed and it was only 5:30. We saw our first Starbucks this whole trip so we went inside to grab a drink to warm up. The menu was very different and the coffee was better than it is in the States.
We took our coffee to go and walked back to the hotel. Because the weather was so bad, we decided to stay in and catch up on our blog for the past week. We lost track of time but figured it was still early because the sun was still shining. When we looked at the clock, however, it was after 9pm! Apparently, the days here are pretty long in the summer (the sky is bright at 5am and doesn't go dark until 10'ish.) Too disorient us even more, there was a 3 hour time change (ahead) from Brisbane to NZ.
We went to bed around midnight. Tomorrow we have to get up at 6am for our 8:30 flight to Queenstown.
