Ngorongoro

Aug 1 - We took our time getting up this morning since the only thing we had to do was drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for our next to the last day in Africa.

On the way out of the Serengeti, we were really lucky to see vultures feeding on a dead gazelle by the side of the road.  There was also a few lions lounging under a tree trying to stay out of the sun.

Hyrax - they pee all over the rocks to keep predators away

But they like to lounge around a lot too

A few hours later, we got to the lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and it was probably the best lodge we had stayed at yet. The climate at the rim was also dramatically different than it had been in the Serengeti plains. It was a lot chillier at night and there were even people wearing gloves.

We had a very nice dinner and then turned in early for our last safari day.
