July 27 - It was another long drive to get get to our next
destination, Amboseli National Park.
We
got to the Amboseli Sopa Lodge in time for lunch and relaxed for a bit before
heading out on a game drive.
The
Amboseli is MUCH different than the Masai Mara.
It is pretty barren which is odd since it is the home of the largest
elephants in Kenya.
Still, we were able
to see a hyena which we had not seen before and many of the other animals.

At the entrance to the park is also where we were able to
finally buy some reasonably priced souvenirs.
The vendors would walk up to the cars (much like the Mexico border for
those who have been) and just start tapping on the window, showing an item and
telling you the price. If you didn't
show interest, the price immediately dropped by half. After a few minutes of bargaining and trading
some pens and small sample sizes of Tiger Balm, we were able to get three Masai
statues for about $20. Much better than
the $40 they were asking for ONE in the curio shops.
